How to photograph your own newborn during COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine.

This is for any and all moms that just had their babies and are not able to hire a professional photographer at this time.

Please don’t attempt any complicated poses you may see on Pinterest and other social media. This post is made to show some easy yet beautiful newborn poses that can be done at home without any special training, equipment and props.

1.       Try to do her newborn pictures within the first two weeks after the baby is born.

2.       Find a pretty scarf or a thin receiving blanket to wrap the baby in, a large blanket to pose baby on and a basket to put her in.

3.       Have a couple receiving blankets handy as you’ll need them to prop the baby.

4.       Pick the sleepiest time: right after the awake time and feeding.

5.       Pick the most well-lit room in your house.

6.       Keep the room temperature at 80-82F while photographing and posing your baby.

7.       Have your camera or phone charged and ready.

Now that you’re ready to photograph her, make sure you have everything in place and feed her, so she is full and sleepy.

Video below will show how to wrap her with a scarf and a piece of stretchy fabric and pose on a blanket an in a basket. Even though you’ll soon find out this wrap keeps her super sleepy and easily posable, don’t keep her wrapped longer than needed to grab several shots.

Next, we’ll try doing naked photos of the baby. She should be super sleepy after being fed and wrapped.

Here are some examples of poses you can attempt at home.

Aaaaand you’re welcome! Now you have beautiful pictures of your newborn baby even though you are stuck at home 24/7.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email or text me and I’ll try to explain in more detail.

Stay safe!
